  2. Dublin Middle School Schedule • 2014-2015 - Continue Block Scheduling in Grades 6 and 7. • 3 - 86 minute core blocks • 2 – 42 minute RA periods

  3. 7th Grade • Blocks of LA and Math • 86 minutes, everyday • Blocks of Science and SS • 9 week blocks (One each per quarter) • Require Art and Health as Semester RA classes. • Music will remain A and B day RA choice, not requirement, backed up to Study Center. • Physical Education 7 as Semester RA Elective

  4. A sample 7th Grader’s day at DMS • There will be five periods plus lunch in the day. Period 1 – RA period Period 2 – RA period Period 3- LA block Period 4a- Math Block Lunch - (Period 5) Period 4b – Math Block Continued Period 6 – SS or Science Block

  5. MathPlease use math advisement letter to determine choice • Math 7 • Compacted Year 1

  6. Math • Math 7 • Proportional relationships • Operations with rational numbers, expressions and linear equations • Problem-solving involving scale drawings & geometric constructions • Area, surface area and volume • Probability

  7. Math • Compacted Year 1 • All of Math 7 plus…. • Scientific notation • Writing and solving linear equations • Solving Exponential equations • Pythagorean Theorem and similar triangles • Functions

  8. Language Arts • Study of a variety of text and media to understand the world • Literacy genres • Non-fiction Reading and Writing • Written Communication • Oral Communication • Word Study • Blocks – 86 minutes

  9. Science 7 • Weather and climate • Energy and matter • Ecology, biodiversity and living organisms

  10. Social Studies 7 • Ancient world to colonization • Geography • Culture • Economics • Government • Financial literacy

  11. Art Health Semester each – 18 weeks Related Arts 7

  12. Students may choose one of our music classes (SC every other day): Band Choir Orchestra Study Center (every day) Physical Education – Semester – 18 weeks Related Arts 7 (electives)
