  2. Volunteering Philanthropy Competition Social Networking Why Join HOSA? HOSA provides its members with a range of opportunities for scholarship and provides access to resources that aid the process of prepping for professional school.

  3. President Mena Yamany Major: Biomedical EngineeringYear: JuniorOther: I am Pre-Medicine with the goal of becoming and Ophthalmologist, though I also want to continue doing biomedical research.

  4. Vice PresidentKiranAlibhai Major: BiochemistryYear: JuniorOther: Pre-Medicine/Pre-PA (haven’t decided which yet). I want to go into the field of pediatrics.

Membership Requirements • Membership Dues ($35 for the semester or $50 for the year, refundable upon completion of 3 BIG Fundraisers) • Attend 4 out of 6 meetings • Complete 15 Hours of HOSA Volunteer hours OR 12 hours and 6 outside hours/charity points • Complete 1 BIG Fundraiser and 2 Small Fundraisers • Attend 3 Social Events • ALL SIGN-UPS THROUGH WEBSITE

  11. Kaplan Test Prep HOSA offers members the opportunity to apply for scholarships for Kaplan prep courses. Also, HOSA members get a discount for Kaplan services, including test prep.

  12. Donors Play • At each meeting, we will be testing a game app to raise money for competitions • Here is a video explaining the process • Please text “txhosa” to 650-319-7142 and follow the prompts to download the app on your smart phone • We will test the game together during the last 5 minutes of the meeting

  13. Guess Which Officer? • I am so afraid of heights that I cannot stand on a table • I tore my ACL at Jumpstreet this summer • I’ve broken a finger playing basketball • I can play 6 different instruments • I drive a convertible • I am a huge football fan to the point where I will yell at the screen and have had a fantasy football team • I have a collection of stuffed animals, including a zebra named Mr. Zebra

Upcoming Events • Volunteering • 9/15 Dell’s Children’s Prep in PCL 5.120A at 1 pm • 9/21 Austin Food Bank at 1 pm • Social • 9/17 Mozart’s Study Social at 6 pm • Fundraising • BIG: 9/14 Football Game (SIGN-UP CLOSED), 9/21 Football Game • Small: 9/19 Pizza Fundraiser in Welch Main Hallway (1/2 hour shifts 11 am – 1 pm) • Dues are DUE by the THIRD Meeting • Next Speaker • Dr. Larry Krabite (Family Physician from Austin Regional Clinic)

New Leadership Opportunities • Public Relations Committee • 2 Positions Available (Application and Interview) • Transportation Committee • Limit will be based on number of applicants • Responsible for transportation to a certain number of events • Will receive ½ hour of Volunteer Credit each time • Philanthropy Chair (Application and Interview) • HOSA Representative (Application and Election) • Must have been active for at least 1 previous semester
