History of tattooing • Egyptians  Considered tattoos to be therapeutic, especially for femalesas their bodies transitioned through pregnancy • (ink found around abdomen, breasts, thighs) • Tattooing has also been used to symbolize faith, celebrations, denote property, personal meanings, artistic expressions, rebellion, and even assimilationism
