  1. SANTANADRAFTING MULTIVIEWS 2 Inclined, oblique and rounded surfaces Mr. Fitzgerald Rm. 1372

  2. TODAY’S OBJECTIVE… • Strengthen our knowledge of orthographic projection • Construct an orthographic Multiview with Inclined, Oblique and/or rounded surfaces • Improve our skill of Visualizing 3-D objects from multiview orthographic drawings

  3. MULTIVIUEWS: TYPES OF SURFACES

  4. MULTIVIUEWS:NORMAL SURFACES • Discussed in prior lesson • Parallel to one of the three planes of projection in which it appears true in size & shape

  5. MULTIVIUEWS:INCLINED SURFACES • Perpendicular to one plane of projection in which it appears as a true length edge (object line that is neither horizontal or vertical) • Appears foreshortened in the other two planes • Surface is seen in adjacent views (it appears distorted as it is foreshortened but the shape is recognizable)

  6. MULTIVIUEWS:INCLINED SURFACES

  7. OBLIQUE SURFACES • Are not parallel or perpendicular to any of the three planes of projection • The Oblique surface appears in all views but not in its true size & shape as it is distorted because it is foreshortened

  8. OBLIQUE SURFACES

  9. ROUNDED OR CURVED SURFACES • Cylinders appear as a circle in one view and as a rectangle in the adjacent view • Cones appear as a circle in one view and a triangle in the adjacent view • Two views are usually sufficient for such objects when the third view would be a duplicate

  10. ROUNDED OR CURVED SURFACES

  11. MULTIVIUEWS:CENTER LINES • Used to locate views and dimensions • Used specifically for location dimensions • Primary Centerline runs through the part & denotes mirror image • Represents the turning point of a cylinder in the side view

  12. MULTIVIUEWS:CENTER MARKS • Center of a round hole • Is perpendicular center lines • Represents the drill point of a hole • Object lines & hidden lines takes precedent over centerlines & center marks • Long dash short dash long dash

  13. START BY BLOCKING IN YOUR THREE VIEWS Now it’s your turn! • Hand Sketch a multiview drawing from the following isometric drawing • Do not worry about scale or dimensions but do your best to fill up the paper • Draw three views front, top & side • Choose the best front side view and project to your other views
