  2. sarasvatI namastubhyam varadE kAmarUpiNi | vidyArambham karishyAmi siddhir bhavatumE sadA || O Goddess Saraswathi! I pray to you, who are the fulfiller of my wishes. I start on the path of learning with the prayer that you bestow your blessings on me.

  3. yA kundEndu tushAra hAra dawaLA yA shubhra vastrA vritA yA veeNA vara danDa maNDitakarA yA shwEta padmAsanA | yA brahmAcyuta shankara prabhrutibhihi dEvai sadA pUjitA sA mAm pAtu sarasvatI bhagavatI nishshEshajADyA pahA || That Goddess who is pure and white like the jasmine blossom, the full moon, and the garland-like formation of dew drops; one who is clad in a pure white garment; one who holds the veena and the vedas in her hands; one who sits on a white lotus; one who is worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu, Ishvara, and all the other gods of the universe; may that great Goddess mahAsarasvatI and Divine Mother remove our lethargy, intellectual laziness and ignorance (and bless us with higher knowledge).
