CenSARA Grants • St. Louis Smartway Diesel Retrofit Pilot Project • Project was awarded in October 2007 • The department subgranted to Grace Hill to implement this project • Five trucking companies have been chosen to install Smartway packages. Those companies are reviewing their obligations before they commit to the project. • The trucking companies will be reimbursed for up to $4,500 for the purchase and installation of a DOC, CCV, or DPF. They must also install at least one Smartway item, and establish a “no idling zone” • Project is scheduled for completion in September 2008

CenSARA Grants continued… • MO School Bus Diesel Inventory • Project was selected for award in June 2008 • Project is projected to start in August 2008 and finish in December 2009 • The project will develop a thorough equipment and emission inventory of every diesel powered school bus in the state. • The information gathered will be placed on the web through a link on the department’s website.

  5. National Clean Diesel CampaignState Allocated Funds • The application has been submitted and is being reviewed by the EPA. • Anticipated start date: October 2008 • Anticipated end date: September 2010 • The application includes two projects: • Cost Share Fund • Public Fleet Fund

State Allocated Funds continued… • Cost Share Fund • Open to public and private diesel fleet owners and operators • In St. Louis vehicles must be stationed in the non-attainment area to be eligible • The fund will provide a 40% reimbursement for the purchase and installation of emission control equipment, idle reduction technology, and Smartway technology • RFP/Lottery process will be used to select awardees

State Allocated Funds continued… • Public Fleet Fund • Project will reimburse 100% of the purchase and installation of emission control equipment on public fleets in the metropolitan areas of the state • In St. Louis the public fleets must be located in the non-attainment area (City of St. Louis and Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles and St. Louis Counties) • St. Louis partner implementing both projects will be St. Louis Regional Clean Cities

National Clean Diesel CampaignBlue Skyways Funding Assistance Program • Competitive Grant • $5 million available • 30 applications were submitted and 27 of the applications were eligible • The total requested funding was approximately $27 million • The department submitted two applications: • Metropolitan Area Clean Diesel Project • MoDOT Clean Diesel Project • Awards will be announced in September 2008

Blue Skyways Funding Assistance Program continued… • Metropolitan Area Clean Diesel Project • Total requested funding: $1,077,923 • Areas include St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield • In St. Louis the grant includes installing DOCs on approximately 50 school buses in St. Louis County and installing partial flow through filters on 10 concrete mixers that operate in the St. Louis non-attainment area • St. Louis Regional Clean Cities will be implementing this project if it is funded

Blue Skyways Funding Assistance Program continued… • MoDOT Clean Diesel Project • Total requested funding: $726,227 • Project includes projects in MoDOT Districts 4, 6, and 8 • In St. Louis (District 6) the project includes installing: • 25 DOCS, 16 Partial Flow-through Filters, 5 Auxiliary Power Units, 5 Closed Crankcase Ventilation Systems, and 5 Automatic Engine Shutdown Devices on various diesel equipment.
