  2. Introduction • The SAL-I project team • Marc Hammerton • Jörg Seifert • Xu Du • Scott Messner • We are working to develop a graphical user Interface for SAL.

  3. SAL Agent Text based interface Different sensors What is SAL? • Sensor Abstraction Layer (SAL) • interfacing tool for managing large networks of sensors. • Multiple, unique devices  one uniform system. • Command-line interface • Textual data only

  4. SAL Agent Client Server WEB interface Why SAL-I? • Problem: SAL only provides raw data. • Solution: SAL-I • Graphical representation of raw data. • Remote access from anywhere. • Increased user acceptance.

  5. SAL Agent Client Server WEB interface What needs to be done? • SAL-I will need two things: • Web Service Interface to SAL • Web Browser Interface to End-User

  6. Are there Risks? • Choosing the right technology • Displaying visual, audio, and textual data • Connecting to SAL • Limited time-scale • 9 weeks • No extensions • Design the system without actual end-user
