  3. SYSTEM FUNCTIONS • UNLOCKS ALL DOORS WHEN 3-4 BUTTON IS PRESSSED WITHIN 5 SECONDS AFTER CODE ENTERED • RELEASES TRUNK LID • ACTIVATES ILLUMINATED ENTRY • OPERATES IN CONJUNCTION WITH AUTOMATIC LOCKS SYSTEM

  4. KEY MODULE • Controls all functions for Keyless and Autolock systems • Located in Trunk on Fords • On newer cars, built into BCM • Code usually on module itself.

  5. KEYPAD • FIVE NORMALLY OPEN SINGLE POLE, SINGLE THROW SWITCHES • EACH PAD REPRESENTS TWO NUMBERS • LOCATED ON DRIVER’S DOOR • PROVIDES INPUT TO CONTROL MODULE CLASS 513

  6. LOCK MOTOR • USES EITHER SOLENOID OR PERMANENT MAGNET REVERSIBLE MOTOR • MODULE CONTROLS PM LOCK MOTORS BY REVERSING CURRENT CLASS 363

  7. REMOTE OPERATION • TRANSMITTER • RECEIVER BUILT INTO MODULE • ANTENNA • SOMETIMES USED WITH ALARM SYSTEM LAB 549

  8. SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS • INSURE WHAT SYSTEM YOU HAVE • CHECK BASIC LOCK SYSTEM FIRST • ROLL DOWN WINDOWS OR KEYS IN POCKET • PERFORM FACTORY FUNCTION TEST • HIDDEN CODE SOMETIMES ON CONTROLLER MODULE LAB 548

FUNCTION TEST • Unlock and lock doors using lock switches • Illuminate Keypad • Lock doors using keypad • Unlock Driver’s door using permanent Code • Unlock passenger door’s using 3/4 key • Unlock luggage using 5/6 key • Check for Auto Lock function (Through reverse gear) • Open and close driver’s door to check Autolock • Open driver’s door, key on, trans in drive, turn off courtesy lights with door switch using left foot Cont’d on next slide

FUNCTION TEST (CONT’D) • Key off, trans in park, get out of car, close door Press Keypad to turn on illuminated entry. • While illuminated entry is on, press 7/8 and 9/0 simultaneously within 5 seconds of turning on the illuminated Entry system • Key off, transmission in Park, door closed, lift handle to open door, within 25 seconds, get inside car and turn ignition switch on • Enter Permanent code, within 5 seconds, push 1/2 (this tells module to accept a alternate code) • Unlock all doors using alternate code • Disable alternate code. (Follow procedure)
