  1. Types Of Dental Cleaning It is one of the primary things to discuss your dental cleaning options with your dentist, and having an understanding of the different types can be useful. All dental cleanings are not the same, and it can be helpful to know the difference between each type in order to determine which dental cleaning is right for you. Mainly there are four main types of dental cleanings, each has a different purpose. Based on your particular circumstances, your dental hygienist or dentist will recommend which cleaning is right for you. Here we discuss different types of teeth cleaning and what they address. WHAT IS A DENTAL CLEANING? A dental cleaning procedure involves removing any plaque or tartar buildup that may be forming on dental patients teeth.

  2. -PROPHYLAXIS CLEANING Prophylaxis is the regular cleaning that you need to get every six months to keep dental illnesses and infections at bay. A Prophylaxis is a cleaning above the teeth line to remove tartar and plaque that causes cavities. The teeth are usually scaled and then polished. Prophylaxis is also called hygiene therapy -SCALING AND ROOT PLANING Scaling and root planing, also called as a deep cleaning. When excess of plaque begins to build up over time without being properly cleaned off, it can harden and turn into tartar or calculus and has the potential of causing gum disease and other serious oral health complications. In this condition, a scaling and root planing is needed to ensure that the hardened plaque is cleaned off. This Scaling and root planing procedure is most often performed on patients who have signs of gum disease, such as bleeding gums, swollen gums or loose teeth. -GINGIVITIS THERAPY Gingivitis therapy provides additional cleaning services to eliminate the built up plaque on the teeth as well as plaque below the gum line. This therapy is meant for those who have gingivitis, a reversible type of periodontal disease. -GROSS DEBRIDEMENT This cleaning consists of a generalized removal of calculus and plaque. It is meant for those who suffer from gingivitis or periodontal disease. A gross debridement is typically performed to permit better visibility and access for a diagnosis and subsequent probing. This allows for gum inflammation to settle before additional treatment is provided. Once the gross debridement is complete, a scale and polish
