Residues to Biofuels Potential for Florida to produce 1/2 of automotive needs, requiring over 200 plants and creating 10,000 new jobs Approx. 4 mil tons of bagasse per year => 200 mil gal ethanol, sufficient for 5 to 10 cellulosic ethanol plants. @ 50 jobs per plant = 250 to 500 new jobs x impact factor Agricultural / municipal / forest residues even larger; marginal lands for energy crops & short rotation trees Construction cost for 5 bil gal = $20B; annual fuel revenue from 5 bil gal = $20B at $4/gal
