  1. ELI Beamlines, Czech RepublicVlastimil Růžička, Executive Director, ELI Beamlines & HiLASEPrague, 7th April 2014

  2. ELI Beamlines within ELI ELI Beamlines ELI Attosecond ELI NuclearPhysics • development and usage of dedicated beam lines with ultra short pulsesof high energy radiation and particles reaching almost the speed of light • temporal investigation of electron dynamics in atoms, molecules, plasmas and solids at attosecond scale • nuclear physics methods to study laser-target interactions, new nuclear spectroscopy, new photonuclear physics

  3. ELI Beamlines International user facility for user experiments Balance between fundamental science and applications Start of operations in 2018 270 employees, of which 190 researchers 4 laser beams L1 – L4 6 research programmes, exploitation potential namely in: RP1: Lasers generating rep-rate ultrashort pulses & multi-petawatt peak powers RP3: Particle acceleration by lasers RP4: Applications in molecular, biomedical, and material sciences

  4. HiLASE • Institution of applied research • Construction just completed (April 2014) • Start of operations in Q3/2015 • 80 employees, of which 50 researchers • 3 research programmes, high application potential in: • Laser induced damage threshold measurement of optical materials • Laser shock peening • Compact X-ray sources for lithography • Precise cutting, drilling and welding of special materials for automotive and aerospace industry • Technology of laser micromachining • Laser paint stripping, surface cleaning

  5. Technology transfer and commercialisation, CITT • Service provider for ELI Beamlines, HiLASE and the Institute of Physics • Established in 06/2012 • 7 team members (incl. technology scouts), Aleš Hála head • Technology transfer management – identification, protection, proof-of-concept, valorisation, sale, after-care • Contact point for industrial users • Strong support for researchers, internal awareness rising • Co-ordination of legal environment and policy making in industrial relations

  6. CITT: realized activities

  7. Progress on construction(to be finished in June 2015)

  8. To be used within 1 month
