  7. Perinatal statistics: parturients, deliveries and newborns 2010 • In 2010, there were 61 371 births in Finland. Births have increased by 8 per cent over the last ten years. • One in three parturients was overweight (i.e. had a BMI ≥ 25) while 12 % were obese (BMI ≥ 30). • Every other expectant mother under the age of 20 smoked at the start of pregnancy; one in four out of this group said that they have stopped smoking during the first trimester. • Just over 90% of all women with vaginal delivery used at least one method of pain relief. • http://www.thl.fi/en/statistics(parturients, Statistical Report 27/2011
