  1. Welcome to Curriculum Night!

  2. Word Study New Spelling program: Word Journeys Differentiated groups are based on prior knowledge. Word sorts will be sent home each Monday. Assessments will be administered each Friday.

  3. Report Cards • New scoring rubric : • Do not expect to see many 4’s in the first quarter • Keep in mind the rigor and expectations will increase with each quarter

  4. Behavior Expectations • We have high behavior expectations in second grade. • Please review your child’s behavior log daily. • Praise them or provide logical consequences as needed. • Thank you for your support!

  5. Homework • Homework grids will be sent home quarterly. Students are given an option to choose 1 math and 1 ELA skill to practice each night. Sample grid • Read 20 minutes a night • Practice Math facts!

  6. FCS Health and Wellness Policy • Baked goods for class celebrations: All food items must be prepackaged with ingredients listed. • Healthy snacks: • Please send a healthy snack each day!

  7. Transportation • We will only accept student transportation changes in writing prior to 8:30 am. We no longer accept email or faxes. • During emergency situations please contact an administrator. We are always willing to help when the situation warrants flexibility.

  8. Cafeteria Visitor Table • We are excited to provide a special area to enjoy lunch with your child. • This area is located on the stage. • School policy states that only your child may join you at the parent table.

  9. BYOT Using your device, find a QR code around the classroom and explore what your child is learning.
