  2. College Admission Tests • SAT- www.collegeboard.com upcoming tests: 10/5, 11/2, 12/7* *at KHS • ACT- www.act.org upcoming tests: 9/21, 10/26, 12/14 *all at LSC-Kingwood

  3. TSI Assessment College placement test • New exam. More information coming soon! • May be exempt from taking the TSI based on SAT or ACT scores. • Students must consult with each college to verify the criteria for being exempt.

  4. SAT/ACT/TSI scores are not on your high school transcript. You will need to request that the testing agency send your official scores to the colleges.

  5. College Days • 2 for senior year. • Take before Spring Break. • Prior approval needed for: -2 consecutive days (1 college per day) -2 days to the same college -any day after Spring Break

  6. College Application Steps

  7. Step 1: Complete Online Applications Texas Common Application: www.applytexas.org National Common Application: https://www.commonapp.org

  8. Step 2: Order Transcript See Mrs. Nelson in 1025 (front office) to: • Order transcript(s) - $2 each if mailed. • Turn in senior information sheet/resume/ portfolio for your counselor, if necessary. • Turn in any forms that your Counselor must complete. *We recommend that you waive your rights to confidentiality on the application.

  9. Step 3: Send • Mrs. Nelson gives necessary paperwork to your Counselor. • Once completed, your Counselor submits electronically or returns the forms to Mrs. Nelson. • Mrs. Nelson mails forms & transcripts.

  10. Counselor Deadlines • Two weeks are required for counselors to complete our portion. We need a “senior information sheet” in order to complete the forms and/or write your recommendation. * Your failure to pay attention to deadlines does not decrease our timeline for completing our portion of the application or recommendation.

  11. College Deadlines Pay attention to deadlines for: • Admission Applications • Housing Applications • Scholarship Applications *Your entire file must be complete by the application deadline!

  12. Teacher Recommendations • If needed – arrange with teachers. • Teachers need: • 2 weeks • addressed envelope with stamp if mailed • your info sheet • a THANK YOU note!

Important Dates • Sept. 20: 4-week level change forms due • Oct. 9 : College Night at Humble Civic Center. • Oct. 18: • 9-week level change forms due • LAST DAY to drop a 1st semester class not needed for graduation – no extra release & only 1 aide. • Nov. 1: Pass/Fail forms due. • Dec. 13: • Schedule changes due for 2nd semester. • Correspondence Courses/CBEs complete with final grade to KHS.
