  1. Are We the Creators of Our Own Realities? Megan O’Brien

  2. The Voice There is a voice inside of you That whispers all day long, “I feel that this is right for me, I know that this is wrong.” No teacher, preacher, parent, friend Or wise man can decide What’s right for you-just listen to The voice that speaks inside. -Shel Silverstein

  3. Why I chose this Beautiful Question I was very drawn to this beautiful question and wanted to work with it and answer it because it’s something I have been told many times throughout my life but never really fully understood, or just ignored. Now having the opportunity to research this question I wanted to learn in order to help others in my future work as well as myself. I also really wanted to approach my beautiful question from an optimistic and empowering perspective.

  4. Perceptions We each interpret the world around us in different ways. While one event may make one person laugh the same event could easily offend another. Leading to each of us developing different perceptions of the same world, built up of personal experiences and beliefs. The formula for perceptions is: our perceptions turn into beliefs which turn into behaviors. The reality is, we only see what we believe to be true. This is because although our eyes see everything going on around us, our brain only processes what we believe to be possible. That being said, what do you think you’re missing that’s going on around you? We become stuck in our own realities due to thinking we are powerless.

  5. Intentions An intention is set once someone has a goal or desire to do something, once this happens there is a motivation to move forward. We are always gravitating towards what we like and are attracted to. To Identify what you want you have to formulate it into an intention. “Always focus on what you do want, rather than what you don’t want!” (Corrigan)

  6. Emotional Charges Emotional charges are constantly effecting how you feel about different things based off of past experiences. It’s important to understand why you may have such a negative or positive association with these things in order to move past it or accepting it. “In sub patterns lie interpretations and meanings that you assign to your experiences. These interpretations become cellular memories and carry the emotional energy charge that affects your biography and consequently your biology. When you remember, for example, that you excelled in math in school, that memory of success might have a positive, inspiring effect on your body and mind. But if your success in math caused resentment or alienated you from jealous friends or siblings, it will also carry a negative charge.” (Myss, Sacred Contracts)

  7. Emotions Emotions are not good or bad but rather chemicals that are produced and then interpreted by the brain and used as signals. Each of our emotions has a useful purpose within our lives. We are our emotions and they are us. Emotions are very powerful and if you cannot control your emotional state, there is a strong likelihood you are addicted to that emotional state. This is easiest to see and understand with certain individuals who thrive on dramatic situations (even if they say they don’t enjoy them). These individuals in my experience always seem to have something over the top going on in their lives, and love to gossip about it as well as tell you how exhausting it is and how fed up with it they are. You attract situations to yourself that you are addicted to.

  8. How to Fix Emotional Addiction “Memories can define how we process and interpret emotions. Which deeply effects our fixation or avoidance of said emotion.” (Corrigan) It’s difficult to change a behavior once it’s a habit, but not impossible. To begin the process we need to make the decision to change the behavior in order for it to be successful. Every time we interrupt thought patterns we break apart neural networks to make a new network to focus on what we want.

  9. Water Our thoughts and emotions effect us in many ways and in this youtube video it discusses how vibrations created through emotions or thoughts, impact the water we are made up of. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykO9aQFxYpE Masaru Emoto a Japanese author believes that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. To the left are images from his book Hidden Messages from Water on his work with experiments he’s conducted and documented.

  10. How to We are conditioned by our daily lives so much that we have become conditioned to believe in the external rather than the internal. In order to take back the control and be the creators of our own reality we have to begin by looking inside. “An intention with an added follow up equals a manifestation. This is the basic formula of how we are able to create our own realities.” (Corrigan) “I begin every day by waking up and gathering myself I then mentally prepare and send out mental intentions that I want for the day. I proceed to go about my day and continue to look for these intentions, trusting that they will manifest themselves.” (Corrigan) “You cannot be afraid of change, and you must always have confidence in yourself!” (Corrigan)

  11. My Opinion After looking at and learning from all of these different sources included in my research, I believe we do create our own realities , but we don’t believe that we do. We see ourselves as more helpless than we actually are. Through my investigation of this question I think the most important part of creating your own reality is by accepting and believing in yourself, knowing that things aren’t always going to be perfect but that you do have the power to turn that around.
