History of SAP • In 1974 5 engineers of IBM waldrof Germany were working on this Project. • When this Project was on the stage of completion all of them Resigned from the company. • In 1978 they floated their own company & registered their product called SAP • Now almost all the Corporate Giants in more than 62 are using SAP as an ERP

  4. WHY SAP? • SAP is the only ERP which provides Integration & Automation between all the departments of organization. • There are lot many software's are available in the market but they are restrictive in their use e.g. BAAN--- Restricted to Finance Department People Soft---- Restricted to HR Department SAP not only extends to all these departments but integrates them also.

  5. How Does it works There are some modules in SAP which provides integration between all the departments. PP (Production planning) (Controlling & MM (Material Mgt) Profit analysis) WMM (Warehouse Mgt) FICO COPA SD (Selling & Distribution) (Finance & Controlling) HR (Human Resource)

  6. How Functions are Automated An example: Just Decide Minimum level of any article System detects when article reaches below minimum level. System automatically generates Purchase Requisition (PR) Then system raises PO on the basis of this PR System sends this P.O to vendor linked with that article (By E-mail)

  7. Only Receiving & Inspection is manual then after the entry of GR (Good Received) System automatically raises Performa Invoice on the Basis of above GR After this just by a click of mouse by an authorized officer system send payment instruction to Bank (ECS) and makes necessary entries. All these Procedures helps management in • Instant Information for decision making • Cost Cutting • Reduction of Paper work • Audit Trail of Transaction

Scope for C A in SAP/ Job Opportunities SAP can be bifurcated in two parts: Implementation End User • After Qualifying your CA exams, You can join as an SAP FICO functional (Implementation) consultant. • Starting package is Rs 6 to 8 lacs P.a & it can reach upto Rs15 lacs within 3 years • Almost all the companies like E&Y , PWC, TCS, HCL, Delloite, Accenture, etc recruits ONLY CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS AS THEIR FICO CONSULTANT. • Thousands of CA are already working in SAP and there is lot of scope in future. You will be amazed to know that India is one of the leading country in providing SAP consultancy services across the world.
