  4. Sari A sari or saree is the traditional female garment in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. A sari is a very long strip of unstitched cloth which can be draped in various styles.

  5. Turban The turbanis a headdress consisting of a long scarf-like single piece of cloth wound round the head or an inner hat. The long strip of cloth was soaked in water at a well, and then wrapped around the head. The layers of wet cloth kept wet all day in the hot dry air. Contemporary turbans come in many shapes, sizes, and colors and may be wound anew for each wearing or permanently formed and sewn to a foundation. Sikhs, who wear turbans to cover the long uncut hair - worn as a sign of their commitment to the Sikh faith.

  7. Kimono The kimono is the national costume of Japan. Originally the word "kimono" referred to all types of clothing, but it has come to mean specifically the full-length traditional garment worn by women, men, and children. Kimonos are wrapped around the body, always with the left side over the right and secured by a wide belt called an obi, which is tied at the back. Kimonos are generally worn with traditional footwear (especially geta, thonged wood-platform footwear) and split-toe socks.

  10. Bindi The word bindi is derived from the Sanskrit word bindu, which means "drop". There are two common meanings of bindi throughout India. Many believe it is supposed to represent the mystic third eye. The traditional red dot can be seen on men and women. When visiting a temple, it is common for the priest to mark men, women and children with this mark using his finger. The second historical and cultural significance of bindi is as a social symbol, very similar to western wedding bands. Bindi were worn by married women in North India in the form of a red dot because red was supposed to bring good fortune into the home of the bride. The red mark made the bride the preserver of the family's honor and welfare.
