  1. Darius West Language Arts The Boy In The Striped Pajamas By: John Boyne

  2. BEGINNING In the beginning of the book, Bruno a nine-year old boy comes and discovers that he is moving when he comes home one afternoon from school to find the family’s maid Marie, who always kept her head bowed and never looked up from the carpet-standing in his bathroom taking down all his belongings from his wardrobe and packing them and even the things he’d hidden in the back that was his privacy and nobody else. Bruno doesn’t want to leave his home and his 3 best friends for life Karl, Daniel, and Martin. The family is moving from their enormous home Berlin to countryside because of Bruno’s father position in the military and has been given an important job by The Fury.

  3. MIDDLE In the middle of the story the family moves to their new 3-storey lifeless-looking house in Auschwitz (‘Out-With’). Bruno’s first impression of the new house was that his eyes opened wide and his mouth made an shape of an ‘’O’’ and his arms stretched out at his sides once again. Bruno feels the house is devoid of any real joy and laughter. He went to his room to unpack and through his window he sees the concentration camp and it inhabitants. Bruno was curious why they were all the same thing grey striped pajamas and gloomy. Bruno always explored at his 5-storey house in Berlin but since the new house is not even worth exploring he decided to take the exploring outdoors without anyone knowing.

  4. End At the end of the story Bruno, takes a walk to the concentration camp and at a fence he meets a small Jewish boy name Shmuel. Bruno is surprised to find out that him and Shmuel share the same birthday. Bruno was quite delighted to have made a new friend. Everyday Shmuel and Bruno would sit down and exchange stories about their lives to each other. Shmuel would share to Bruno how he came to his new home and his mother been taken away. Bruno doesn’t quite understand that Shmuel is suffering. Furthermore, Bruno goes on a final adventure with his friend Shmuel and in the disguise of a Jew, climb under a loose wire in the fence and into the Auschwitz (‘’Out-With’’) camp with a set of striped pajamas to help find his friend Shmuel father who had gone missing in the camp. As it starts to rain Bruno decides he would like to go home. The people in the camp which Bruno and Shmuel are in must go on a ‘’MARCH’’ neither of Bruno Nor Shmuel knows where the ‘’MARCH’’ leads them and the crowded leads them into a gas chamber. The main victims were JEWS but because of Bruno is wearing the striped pajamas he is taken for a boy from the camp and is led to the gas chambers by the guarding soldiers.
