  1. Split Brain By Gape Ragontse & Tepo Edek Phetolo

  2. How it comes about •  results either due to commissurotomy or callosotomy • commissurotomy involves severing corpus callosum and hemispheric tracts such as the anterior commissure, the hippocampal commissure and the massa intermedia of the thalamus • callosotomy, denotes complete sectioning of the corpus callosum • procedures was usually performed for medically intractable, multifocal epilepsy • this then prevent epileptic seizures spreading from one hemisphere to another

  3. Research into Split Brain l.Roger Sperry, Nobel price in Physiology & Medicine 1981 2.Usually in USA where callosotomies where performed. 3.Michael Gazzaniga, cognitive neuroscientist at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the godfather of modern split-brain science

  4. What happens? • Especially pronounced wrt what we see (visual pathways) • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMLzP1VCANo
