  2. PSY’s Early Life Park Jae-sang (PSY’S real name) was born on December 31st, 1977 in Seoul, South Korea in the Gangnam District. Kim Young-hee, PSY’s mother, owns several restaurants and his father, Park Won-Ho, is a DI Corporation chairman listed on the Korean Exchange. PSY attended Banpo Elementary and Middle Schools and Sehwa High School. He really didn’t like school and was basically the class clown of his class.

  3. PSY’S Career Beginnings When Park was 15, he told a CNN reporter that he watched a Korean TV program that introduced to him foreign music. One of the episodes showed a concert where a British rock band, Queen, was performing “Bohemian Rhapsody”. And thus, PSY’s passion for music has been sparked. And this is only the beginning of his journey.

  4. Military Service In 2003 and 2005, PSY had to serve in the military like everyman between the ages of 18 to 35. Park then was excused from duty due to South Korean law that allows exemptions if working in companies of national interest. Since he only served two years, PSY had to be redrafted in 2007. He then was later released in 2009.

  5. Gangnam Style Oppan Gangnam Style! In July 2012, Gangnam Style was released on YouTube. One of PSY’s most famous hits has over a billion views right now.   6. Gentleman Mother Father Gentleman. On April 12th, somebody leaked this song to the public, a day before it’s international release date. Gentleman is PSY’s other hit (that was released in America) other than Gangnam Style. And if you think it’s as popular as Gangnam Style, you are right. It is the most viewed video in 24 hours.

  7. Parodies There are many parodies for both Gangnam Style and Gentleman. And if you don’t know what a parody is, it’s basically a fake or a remake version of the original song.   8. PSY Today Today PSY is married to his wife, YooHye-yeon, which he married back in 2006. They also have twin daughters. PSY is currently doing nothing special at the moment, but that could change soon. Probably not…
