Order of Operations. Tonya Drum EDIM 508. Why are we learning this?. It’s quite simple actually. There is a certain order we have to do math. It we don’t we will get the wrong answer. We are going to see an example in a video how this could happen.

  2. Why are we learning this?

  3. It’s quite simple actually. There is a certain order we have to do math. It we don’t we will get the wrong answer. We are going to see an example in a video how this could happen. Before you panic and think ugh, not another math lesson, were going to have some fun with this one because math is fun! First I’m going to give you a really easy way to remember everything. Then we’ll put a little boogie into it and party down with some singing and dancing. Let’s get ready to learn!!

  4. Why I am teaching this… • Interpreting and evaluating numerical expressions using the order of operations is a skill students need to learn not only because it is a common core standard, but because it is needed for future success. We are preparing students for the future, college, the workplace and math in all of it’s forms is a necessity throughout all walks of life. Order of operations can often be a difficult concept to teach, especially to 8 yr olds, so I took a different approach by using a song and visuals to help aid student learning.
