Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech • "Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral question of our time - the need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to violence and oppression." • "Nonviolence is not sterile passivity, but a powerful moral force which makes for social transformation." • The foundation is love. • "I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality." • Temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant. • This faith can give us courage to face the uncertainties of the future. • It requires righteousness.

My Faith in Nonviolence • Love is the key. • Truth is vital. • The law of love will work. • The force of nonviolence is more wonderful than nature. • Those involved in nonviolent training will have shown "personal bravery of a type Far superior to that shown in armed warfare." • "In each case the bravery consists in dying, not in killing." • "There is no such thing as defeat in nonviolent resistance." • Violence is hate.
