Smart Board Overview • The Smart Board changes the old chalkboard paradigm into an updated and interactive system. • This system adds color, sound, video and the specialized features of the computer to assist the teaching process. • The Smart Board also allows students to present their work from text and other media formats such as DVD, CD ROM, Internet, etc.

  3. Smart Board “Materials” • Every Smart Board requires the SmartBoard, projector, a remote (which should be attached to the cabinet) 4 stylus’ (representing different colors) and a circular stylus eraser.

  4. Start Up • The Smart Rooms will auto log into the computer every morning. If the computer is not logged in, please restart the computer. • The computer and the Smart Board should be on. The status light on the Smart Board, located on the bottom right corner, should be green. If it is red, please restart the computer. • The projector should be powered on. It takes up to one minute to warm-up.

  5. Functions of the Smart Board Chalkboard functions • To have the ability to write and draw on the chalkboard, double click on the “Smart Board Tools” Icon. • To utilize the “Chalkboard” function of the Smart Board, please double click the Icon.

  7. Basic Trouble Shooting • If you are having issues viewing what you are trying to project, utilize the projector’s remote and switch the source to Computer. • For VHS, switch to Video on remote. • If the Smart Board status light is red, restart the computer. A green light means the Smart Board is functional.

  8. End of Class ComputeR ProjectoR • When class has ended, please leave the computer and the monitor left on. • Trash or Delete all notes or saved items. • Close out all other programs for the next class. • You will NOT be able to save items on the computer over night. • PLEASE turn OFF the projector when class has ended or if you do not need the projector during class. Hold the power button until the projector powers down or click the power button twice as requested by the projector to shut off.
