  2. Getting to know Pluto Size: Smaller than Earth’s moon Location: It is farther than Neptune. Weather: Temperatures lower than -230º C Orbit: 248 Earth years for 1 orbit around the Sun.   3. Pluto’s discovery • Pluto was the only planet discovered in the twentieth century (1930). • The only planet discovered by the U.S. • Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto. • Pluto has 5 moons : Charon, Nix, Hydra, Kerberos and Styx. • The last 2 moons weren’t discovered until 2012.

  5. sonriendoalmundo@blogspot.com Pluto is not a planet • Pluto stopped being called a planet in 2006. • Pluto is called a dwarf planet. • Dwarf planets and planets both orbit the sun. • The difference is that Pluto can not move things out of its way.

  6. Spacecraft to Pluto New Horizons is a spacecraft. It left Earth January 19, 2006. It will see Pluto in July 2015. It will take pictures.
