  1. Preparing for Your Child Custody Investigation Child custody is the most crucial issue in a divorce or custody dispute. In determining the custody of a minor, the court is guided by one standard i.e the best interest of the child. Most parents count on the verity of being what they perceive as a “good parent”. However, having an emotional bond with your child is not always enough to sway the decision of the court or to prove your side of the story. Child custody cases are among the worst experiences that parents are subject to. It is a quandary, especially when determining the parents who will lose the child’s contact. As custody cases become more and more competitive, parents have begun seeking every available opportunity to gain an advantage on their competition. This can involve multiple strategies, with some being more secretive than others. Preparing a child custody investigation is one way to build evidence against the other parent without them knowing. Factors involved in determining the best interest of your child: Needs of the Parties: if one parent doesn’t want the child, or the child wants to be with a particular parent, the court will honor those wishes. Joint or Shared Custody: are the parents cooperative? Do they live close to one another? Uphold Rights of Another Parent: which parent is more likely to allow meaningful contact with non-custodial parent?
