  3. Hitler • Versailles Treaty • Economic Problems • Fear of Communists • November Criminals: Hitler blamed the Jews and Communists for signing the Versailles • Severe economic depression-> authoritarianism/Totalitarianism

  4. Fascism • State over the Individual • Extreme nationalism • Terror • Propaganda • Censorship • Government control over economy • Hitler violates the Versailles treaty in order to rebuild Germany

  5. Imperialism • Germany: take over of Austria and Czechoslovakia • Japan: Manchuria and Korea • Italy: Ethiopia • As a result all three nations leave the league of nations\ • Japan needs raw materials

  6. Appeasement • Giving in to an aggressor to stay out of War • Munich pact • France and Britain give Germany the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia • Hitler realizes that the allies are afraid allowing him to start WWII
