Cocklins Digital traveled with our equipment to 6 cities across the USA to interview current DAR members and see firsthand the many different ways in which members serve their community. The Theme The DAR serves local communities in many ways – they support the military by sewing and adapting uniforms for injured soldiers, visit veterans in hospitals; rescue and rehabilitate seal pups in California; fund schools and scholarships, literacy programs and medical research; support immigration efforts; restore historical landmarks and have a library open to the public with specialized collections of African American, Native American, American genealogical and historical manuscripts about women’s history, genealogy and culture. The Results The work performed by volunteers is guided by the needs that exist within the community – and the DAR women don’t shirk from the hard work that needs to be done to meet those needs.
