  1. Extra 2 Confined gas 1) Find the atmospheric pressure in Pascal. Pa 2) Find the pressure of gas A. + OR

  2. 3) Find the pressure of gas B. OR + The pressure is the same at all points of the same horizontal plane of a liquid at rest.

  3. 4) Which one of the two gases A or B is compresses and which one is rarefied. Justify you answer. Gas A is compressed Pa Gas B is rarefied 5) If the bottle that contains gas A were damaged, what would happen to the levels of mercury in the two branches of the U-tube? The surfaces of mercury in the two branches will be at the same horizontal level since they will be subjected to the same pressure ( PAtm )

  4. 6) If the bottle that contains gas B were evacuated, what would be the difference h’ between the levels of mercury in the two branches of the U-tube? OR The pressure is the same at all points of the same horizontal plane of a liquid at rest.

  5. Extra 3 Hydraulic Press The adjacent figure represents a hydraulic press where the cross sectional areas of the small and large pistons are and respectively. The two pistons are of negligible masses and placed on the surface of water of density 1000 kg/m3. The two pistons are on the same level . a) We exert on the small piston a force of magnitude Calculate the force applied on the large piston . same level 50

  6. b) A solid of mass is placed on the large piston. Calculate the mass that should be placed on the other piston which is able to establish the equilibrium on the same level of these two pistons. 250

  7. c) Now an object of mas is placed on the small piston. We observe that the large piston will rise to a height h above the small piston. Calculate the pressure exerted on the two piston’s by the two masses m’ and m2 respectively.

  8. d) Calculate h.
