  2. The Characteristics of Plantensimycin • Chemical Formula: C24H27NO7 • Molecule mass: 441.47 g mol−1 • Density: unknown • Melting point:unknown • Solubility: methanol and ethanol

The History Of Plantensimycin • Plantensimycin was isolated from a strain of Streptomyces platensis by Merck researches in 2006; from a soil sample out of South Africa.  Although it was not until 2011 they truelly dicovered the benfits of this molecule. • After analyzing the biosynthetic gene clusters, B. Shen and co-workers found that it has potential for treating diabetes and other related disorders. As an Antibiotic that works by blocking the enzymes involved in the condensation steps in fatty acid biosynthesis.

  4. Toxic or Non-Toxic? Plantensimycin has so far had no recorded toxic observations. Health benefits are promising, and hopeful for the future of diabetes patients.  With only more uses to be discovered as reaserch on this unique molecule continues.
