  2. What is the mooring hitch used for? The mooring hitch is used to tie boats to docks, or poles. The mooring hitch can also be used to secure a line to a boat.

  3. Other Mooring hitch uses • Disclaimer: Use with caution… Anything said or stated in this slide is not to be used in a court of grading. (Do not use as literal) • Tie your toothbrush to your toothpaste. • Hitch your soap to a rope! • Tie your sibling to a pole… • Bond your neighbor to an undersea monster.

  4. Step 1 First, droop the line over your left hand, with your palm up.

  5. Step 2 Pinch the two ends together to make a medium-sized loop.

  6. Step 3 Take the right line and cross it over the left .

  7. Step 4 Twist the lines once more so that you have twisted the line twice.

  8. Step 5 Fold the loop over the twisted portion.

  9. Step 6 Your knot should now look like an 8 in a circle.

  10. Step 7 Pinch the center of the 8.

  11. Step 8 Pull the center of the 8 upward.

  12. Step 9 You now have your mooring hitch!
