    5. 5 Academic Processes Step 1 is in the didactic environment of the first semester of nursing education Evidence based practice concepts Patient Intervention Comparison Outcome PICO Students develop online search skills toward information literacy.

    6. 6 Academic Continuum Steps 2-5 in semester two applies evidence based practice concepts with a transcription exercise wherein the student evaluates a mock pharmacotherapy plan through evidence based literature, developing a PICO

    7. 7 Academic Continuum Step 3 is computer based PYXIS access simulation in the laboratory environment Step 4 is completion of a medication administration simulation in the laboratory environment Step 5 is a medication calculation examination in the didactic environment

    8. 8 Academic Continuum Step 6 in the Clinical Environment Student evaluates an actual patient pharmacotherapeutic plan in the clinical setting Researches evidence based literature Develops and presents a PICO with evidence based practice data Performs an observed medication administration.

    9. 9 Outcome The of the demonstration of competent, evidence-based medication administration by student nurses, thereby providing optimum and safe patient care
