  1. Human Needs, Human Rights. Can I investigate the rights and responsibilities young people have across the world? In your group, agree on a definition of the key words: rights and responsibilities.

  2. Choose nine cards from the selection you have been given that you think show what you need most. Organise these into a diamond nine. Most important

  3. Rights: the things we are entitled to Responsibilities: our duties, the things that we should do as part of society

  4. List five rights that you think every young person in the world has.

  5. The Convention of the Rights of the Child Read through the documents you’ve been given. In your groups, discuss your ideas: does anything surprise you? Do you disagree with anything? Is there anything you particularly agree with?

  6. Rights and responsibilities at school. Which rights do you think are particularly important for you in your life at school? What responsibilities do you think you have that go alongside these? Create a poster summarising your ideas: the best ones will be displayed around the school.
