A guide to ventless drying

Ventless drying is an innovative laundry process. It makes possible the convenience of in-unit clothes dryers in homes that don’t have conventional laundry hook-ups. Unlike a conventional dryer, a ventless dryer does not have affixed ducting. This means that it does not conduct moist, heated air out of the appliance and outside of the building. Instead the ventless dryer the other hand, processes the air through heat exchange and cooling. During this process, water is safely drained down a household sink.

  1. A GUIDE TO VENTLESS DRYING Presented by LGWasherDryer.com

  2. What is a ventless dryer? • At first glance, it looks like any other dryer. • But there is one important difference. • A ventless dryer does not have a vent attached to it!

  3. What is a vent? • A dryer vent is a tubular attachment. • It is fitted to the back of a conventional dryer. • Its purpose is to conduct moist, heated air out of the dryer. • The steam is vented outside of the home and released into the air.

  4. A ventless dryer does not have a vent. • It processes moist, heated air through a heat exchanger. • As a result, it does not require special installation. • All you need is an electrical outlet and access to a drain. • Simply plug it in and start drying. It’s that easy!

  5. How does a ventless dryer work? There are two ways… Cold Water Condensation and Air to air Condensation Drying. Both scenarios cool and hot wet air, the moisture to be released. The moisture is then collected and pumped down the drain.

  6. What is the drying process? • The air in the drum is circulated over a heating element and then back into the drum. • The air gets saturated with moisture because of the wet clothes • When the air leaves the drum, it gets cooled. By water (cold water condensation) and room air ( air to air condensation). The cooling releases the moisture to be pumped down the drain. • The air then gets cycled back over the heating element to start the process all over again.

  7. What happens to the water? • The water is safely pumped right down the drain. • When not in use, portable washer and dryer combo can be easily rolled away and stored almost anywhere.

  8. What kind of homes can use ventless dryers? • Almost any home can use a ventless dryer. • Small homes and studio apartments are ideal candidates. • All you need are electrical power and access to a drain.

  9. Why are ventlessdryers electrical? What about gas? • Gas dryers must channel fumes outside to avoid hazards. • With electricity, the problem of fumes does not apply. • Electric dryers are safer and can operate on 110V or 220V.

  10. How long does ventless drying take? • Compared to conventional dryers, ventless appliances take a bit longer to fully dry clothing. • To speed the process, don’t overload the dryer. Leave room for air to circulate around the laundry. • A ventless dryer saves time. No more wasting hours at a Laundromat!
