  1. Novel Laser Scanning System A paradigm shift in the metrology industry

  2. ORGANISATION PROFILE Reflex Imaging is an SME micro enterprise based in Horsham in the UK which was formed in 2014 to productise our novel laser scanning technology. Our expertise is in the design and development of high performance and high precision devices including highly regulated and safety critical applications. Our target markets are in industrial robotics and general manufacturing, and medical applications such as accessory and patient positioning.

  3. PROPOSAL INTRODUCTION (I) • Vision: • Provide low-cost, modular laser scanning devices for high precision, in-situ metrology. • Motivation: • Undercut existing high-spec systems - large and expensive. • Applications: • improvements in calibration routines and reduced downtime, • improved quality and reduced waste, • continuous monitoring for preventative maintenance. • Content: build upon the existing first generation product to: • add a second axis of sensing, providing full 6 dof measurement • increase system accuracy by an order of magnitude • identify key markets and deliver a complete commercial product solution

  4. PROPOSAL INTRODUCTION (II) • Impacts: • More extensive use of high precision sensors directly embedded into work processes and end products • Reduction in manufacturing scrap / waste • Reduction in assembly time • Right-first-time assembly • Improved accuracy in robotic applications (medical / assembly etc) • Schedule: • 6-9 months final feasibility and prototyping • 6-9 months engineering build and test • 6 months manufacturing set up, product validation

  5. PARTNERS CurrentConsortium: Reflex Imaging Limited, Horsham UK technology, design and development AMRC Sheffield, UK application, testing, validation Fraunhofer Research Institute, Germany laser and optics expertise Partner search: Non-UK commercial partners - end users in advanced, smart manufacturing processes in Aerospace and Automotive applications. Role: drive the product definition and ensure the technology delivers a successful, complete product solution, either for their own manufacturing process or for general commercial distribution.
