  2. Early Life • Born in Cincinnati, Ohio to an artistic family on January 9th 1870 • His mother was a pianist and his father was a writer and painter • He went to the University of Cincinnati and graduated in 1892 • He graduated with a degree in economics and business

  3. Jobs • After graduating he began to work at the office of Ralph Modjeski • This is where he came up with the idea of Bascule Bridges • He also worked at the Lassig Bridge and Iron Works company in Chicago

  6. Random Facts about Strauss and the Golden Gate Bridge • He is related to Levi Strauss that owns Levi Jeans • The Golden Gate bridge cost over 35 million dollars to build • The Cables on the Golden Gate Bridge are 36.5in thick and all together have 1,200,000 rivets throughout the bridge
