  2. Early Life • Born in Cincinnati, Ohio to an artistic family on January 9th 1870 • His mother was a pianist and his father was a writer and painter • He went to the University of Cincinnati and graduated in 1892 • He graduated with a degree in economics and business

  3. Jobs • After graduating he began to work at the office of Ralph Modjeski • This is where he came up with the idea of Bascule Bridges • He also worked at the Lassig Bridge and Iron Works company in Chicago
