  1. Grab one of each handout. You can take ANY colour of duotang. If you have your own leadership binder you can use it instead. Put the handouts in the duotang/binder. Take a seat. Make an effort to mingle with NEW people.

  2. QUALITIES OF A LEADER • Having a GENUINE desire to make your school, your community and your world a BETTER PLACE • Inspiringothers to do the same • Loving every minute of it (learning from the frustrating moments)

  3. Expectations • Attendance • Punctuality (if you arrive after 7:05am=LATE) • If you miss class or are late for class, you need to give me a note in a timely manner. (parents can’t just call the school) • After 2 unexcused absences=YOU GET THE BOOT • After 5 unexcused lates= YOU GET THE BOOT • (At Ms. Rajabally’s discretion)

  5. For events, if your group members consistently give you a score of less than 70% for effort, YOU WILL GET THE BOOT (at Ms. Rajabally’s discretion) • This is like getting 3.5 out of 5 (on the P-5) • WE MEAN BUSINESS THIS YEAR AND REFUSE TO ACCEPT DEAD WEIGHT IN THIS PROGRAM!

  6. Calendar • Retreat info (3 signed papers + payment for tomorrow—BRING TO MY CLASS upstairs OR my mailbox • My website • WE NEED TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER!!!

  7. Name Pantomime • Think of a word (verb/adjective)that starts with the same letter as your name (ex. Jumping James, Hot Hannah) • When called upon, you must do the action and say your action name (no repeat actions) • Then the rest of the group does the action and re-states your action name • REPEAT FOR SPEED

  8. Getting to the nitty gritty • We just don’t have the same time as when you were in jr classes with a block every day! • This is Mr. Primrose’s class– please make sure to clean up after use, ensure all supplies are returned (scissors, glue sticks, etc.), do not just drop stuff off in here (return them to the leadership lock-up or wherever they belong) • Grade 11s and Grade 12s who were not in Leadership last year need to get into 6 groups of 5 or 6. • Get to know everyone in your group (names, swap cell numbers)—get groups on a list • Grade 12 who were in Leadership last year discuss your welcome week event and/or the other events you might be responsible for this year

What’s DUE • Tomorrow give me your signed retreat forms (all 3 of them) and cash (E210 or mailbox)-first come first served for horseback riding • Grade 12s who were in Leadership last year need to work on what they are handing in for their welcome week event (look at criteria) • Join the FB group Yale Leadership 2012/13 ASAP
