  2. SMHM 3350 Survey of Historic & ContemporaryStyles Sports wear to Everyday wear Objectives • To recognize general fashion styles evolving from sports wear throughout history. • To recognize where and when the garment began. • To determine how it was adapted to everyday wear and what changes were made. • To relate stylistic characteristics to cultural/aesthetics, social, political, sexual, economic or religious condition. Learning Outcomes • Ski clothing was a revolutionized garment that began as simple clothing to keep warm to specially made clothes designed for a sport in cold weather. • A mixture of natural fibers and fabrics such as wool and gabardine were used in the production of the ski suit. • As a masculine attribute, trousers did not become acceptable for women until the 20th century . • Tapered trouser for a more trimmed looked became everyday wear as the focus moved to full legged, drapery slacks.
