  1. Competitive Fall Season Week of August 27 U9/U10 – Names and Ladder

When you get there • Session will be Play (until you have 8 players) – 11+ Warm-up (8 minutes) – Work (35 minutes) – Play (8 minutes) • Take attendance • Learn Names • Play to start once you have 8 players begin session • Take time to teach 11+ which will slow us down a bit but it is important to show movements • Some groups you will need to provide the energy so be prepared with a few silly things mixed in but get back to business ASAP

  5. Play – Win by 1 Split the players onto two teams Play 3v3 to start and play no larger then 5v5 with a few subs if necessary. Make sure to adjust the field a little more space is better then too small Have a pile of balls near each end line when you run out of balls go collect Once a team scores they need to play keep away from the other team Once score is tied everybody goes to goal again KEYS Look for opportunities to shoot Can players shoot on the move?

Activity 1 – Ice Breakers Every player on a ball Start players by carrying ball then transition to dribbling Ask players to get into group by the answer to your questions – each time players get into a new group have them introduce themselves and pic someone in the group to tell you their friends names Favorite ice cream Favorite color Birthday month KEYS Be quick Challenge players to use different surfaces Body shape players must stay low and be explosive Changes of direction Get away from other players like you have a bubble around you

Activity 2 – 2v2 Ladder Split the players into groups of 3 Players manage subs but remind them Play 2v2 games for 6-8 minutes Winners move up and Not So Goods move down Have players collect balls between games KEYS Effort is number 1 priority if effort is not sufficient pull player out and have them watch until the are ready to give effort Willingness to Defend and Attack Look for opportunities to score

U9/U10 Week of August 27– 2v2 Ladder Play • 3v3 up to 5v5 • Win by 1 • Mentality • Relate to theme of the day 11+ • Once you have 8 players begin formal WU • Not a race • Focus on proper movement Activity 1 – Ice Breaker • Every play on a ball • Start with ball in hands then get ball on the ground • Ask players to get into groups based upon their answer to your questions • Favorite ice cream • Birthday month • Favorite subject in school • Type of dribbling when you are trying to cover ground quickly • Surface choice to use • Change direction • Bubble Play – 2v2 Ladder • Split the players into groups of 3 • Players manage subs but remind them • Play 2v2 games for 6-8 minutes • Winners move up and Not So Goods move down • Have players collect balls between games • Effort • Team attacks • Team defends • - Decisions - Ownership - Technique - Attacking - Standards - Enjoyment The Woodbury Way
