  2. What is this group about? • Community Safety is a very important subject for all residents. This is a way of ensuring that community concerns are recognised. • Different from some of the other task groups in that most of the work has to be carried out by agencies e.g. Police, Housing, Fire Service etc. • Is a very useful way of communicating with community groups about crime trends. • Very useful way of collecting community intelligence.

  3. Membership • Members of the community representing a variety of different organisations. • Neighbourhood Manager • Neighbourhood Police Inspector • Fire Station Commander • Community Development Worker • Magistrate

  4. Task Group Work • Ensuring that matters of concern are raised e.g. Pedestrianised area, theft of precious materials, anti-social behaviour hotspots. • Feed into the Local Partnership Delivery Group process (multi-agency meeting addressing hotspots and individuals) • Feed information from the Police, Fire Service and others back into the community. • Determine the priorities for the Community Justice Court.

  5. What next? • Looking at additional measures for the Town Centre pedestrianised area. • Concentrating on helping to prevent burglaries by using community networks and local intelligence to prevent and help with information. • Promote Homewatch • Continue to feed into the Community Justice process.

  6. Why is this group important • Provides regular dialogue between the Neighbourhood Inspector and members of the Community. • Brings partners with responsibility for community safety together with residents to help address problems. • Is useful feedback mechanism for residents. • Residents get to set the priorities for Community Justice to ensure that Magistrates are aware of community problems and priorities.
