  5. Concept Of The Tithe • What is meant by Firstfruits? • HB:7225 re'shiyth (ray-sheeth'); from the same as HB:7218; the first, in place, time, order or rank (specifically, a firstfruit): • Beginning, chief (-est), first (-fruits, part, time), principal thing. • The first of the increase and not the last or what’s left. • Proverbs 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

  6. Concept of the Tithe • Do we Tithe on the Gross or Net amount? • Gross: without deductions; before any usual deductions such as tax or expenses have been made • Net: left after deductions; finance remaining from an amount, especially of money, after all necessary deductions have been made.

  7. Concept of the Tithe

  8. Gross / Net

  9. Concept of the Tithe • Proverbs 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: • What is your increase? • Increase: Bow (bo){HB}:935; income, what has been attained, what was pulled in. • Luke 20:25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's. • Caesar represents a type of Government. • The Government take their tax before you see your check. Belongs to the Government…it’s not ours. • Matthew 17:24NIV: After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, "Doesn't your teacher pay the temple tax?" 25 "Yes, He does," he replied…. • Matthew 17:27NIV: "But so that we may not offend them, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours."

  10. Concept of the Tithe • Luke 20:25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's • The Government (Caesar) take taxes before you see your check.

  11. Concept of the Tithe • The Answer: You are required to give Tithe of your increase which is your net income. • Income tax time you are required to give the tithe if there is an increase. • You can also tithe on the Gross if you desire! • You will get a Gross return regardless

  12. Concept of the Tithe Isn’t the Tithe a part of the Mosaic law? • Gen 14:20 (first time the word Tithe was introduced in the Bible) • Law of Moses. The name assigned to the whole collection of written laws given through Moses to the house of Israel, as a replacement of the higher law that they had failed to obey. The law of Moses consisted of many ceremonies, rituals, and symbols, to remind the people frequently of their duties and responsibilities. • People Tithed Under The Law because God instructed them to through Moses • Lev 27:30 “‘A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. (things that man was given dominion over) • The Tithe was given over 400 before the Mosaic law.

  13. Concepts of the Tithe • Does the New Testament say anything about giving tithes? • Mt 23:23 • Lk 11:42 • Lk 18:12 • Heb 7:5-9 (Gen 14:20)

  14. Concept of the Tithe • Isn’t the giving of tithes my own choice? • Deuteronomy 30:19-20NLT Everything is a choice! • Malachi 3:10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. • Do anyone see any questions being asked, suggestions being made or do you see the Lord making a statement? • People take out of content what certain scriptures are talking about • 2 Corinthians 9: 7-9 NLT

  15. Concepts of the Tithe • What if I borrow from my Tithe? • Lev 27:31-34 • Lev 5:16 NLT • Because of the grace of Jesus we are no longer under the blood of animals, but we are under that perfect blood of Jesus, therefore if we mess up our tithe we simply mess up our own blessing (Mal 3:11). All we have to do is repent (or get back in place) and start properly tithing to see the blessing of the tithe.

  16. Concepts of the Tithe • Do I need to pray or fast about Tithing? • It is not scriptural to pray about something God commanded us to do. • 1 Samuel 15:22 (NLT) But Samuel replied, "What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Obedience is far better than sacrifice . Listening to him is much better than offering the fat of rams. • Key word Obedience!!!

  17. Concept of the Tithe • Blessing of the Obedient • Deuteronomy 28:1-14 • Cursing of the Disobedient • Deuteronomy 28:15-46 • Malachi 3: 8-9 • God calls a non-tither cursed. (unsaved) • God calls a non-tither a thief (saved but not tithing) • A person who has accepted Jesus as their savior can never be cursed. • You can still live as if you are under the curse according to • Haggai 1: 5-7 NLT • Zechariah 5:1-3 NLT (the devour has permission to destroy your stuff by your decision)

  18. Concept of the Tithe • Zechariah 5:1 • The flying scroll (NLT) The flying roll (KJV) • 5:1 Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. • 2 And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. • 3 Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it. • 4 I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

  19. Concept of the Tithe • Doesn’t Jesus destroy all curses? • All curses are destroyed when Jesus becomes Lord over your life. • Jesus is Lord over my soul, but not my money • 1Tm:6:10: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. • Mark 10:17-30 • Matthew 6:24

  20. Concept of the Tithe • Mark 10:21-22KJV • 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. • 22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. • His problem was simply that he loved his possessions more than he loved God. • His possessions owned him instead of him owning his possessions.

  21. Three Part Blessing of El-ELYON {The Most High God} activated by the Tithe • Gen 14:20/Heb 7:5 • Positional • God lifts Abram up to His level • Eph 2:6 NLT For he raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with him in the heavenly realms — all because we are one with Christ Jesus. 7 And so God can always point to us as examples of the incredible wealth of his favor and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us through Christ Jesus. • Possession • Whatever belongs to God now belongs to Abram • 1 Cor 10:26 KJV For the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof. • Psalms 50:10-12 • Power • All of our enemies has been put under our feet • Psalms 47: 2-4

  22. Purpose of the Tithe • What are the other purposes for the tithe? • To build His house of worship (Haggai 1:5-10 NLT) READ • Your tithes and offering keeps the church in operation… • Life in the Word ministries almost had to shut their doors… • Alms (giving to the poor) Acts 10:4 / Luke 19:8 (Zacchaeus gave to the poor) • Taking care of the workers 1Timothy 5:17 NLT

  23. Offering

  24. Offering • HB:4503 minchah (min-khaw'); from an unused root meaning to apportion, i.e. bestow; a donation; tribute; specifically a sacrificial offering (usually bloodless and voluntary): • KJV - gift, oblation (the religious offering of a gift or sacrifice to a deity), present, sacrifice.

  25. Offering Gen 4:3-8

  26. Offering • The offering isn’t acceptable until you give the tithe. • Many have lots of stolen equipment • Luke 20:25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's. • Acts 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. • Ananias might have kept his property had he so chosen; but he professed agreement with the brethren in the common purpose, and had of his own accord devoted it all, as he said, to these sacred ends. Yet he retained a part of it for his own ends, and thus lied in declaring that he had given it all.

  27. Offering • Exodus 25:1-9 • Offering for the tabernacle (building) • Exodus 35:20-29 • Willing offering • 2 Corinthians 9:7-12 KJV / NLT • Exodus 36:1-7 • The people were restrained from bringing more offering because they gave too much!

  28. Tithe & Offering Conclusion • The purpose of the Tithe • Advancing and spreading the Kingdom of God • Take care of God’s designated people. • To build the sanctuary • The purpose of the Offering • Take care of the sanctuary • Take care of the poor • Are You Doing Your Part?
