  1. FINLANDIA HALL Architect : Alvar Aalto Constructed in :1967-1971 General Analysis Kadircan Kıral - 082587

  2. Finlandia Hall is a concert hall which has a congress wing ,it is located in Helsinki ,Finland. AlvarAalto was commissioned by the city of Helsinki to design a concert and congress building His design work completed in 1962 and the building was built in 1967-1971. Finlandia Hall itself exhibits many of the ideas that Aalto experimented with during his lifelong preoccupation with monumental building construction. lt is not a functional creation, if the term is taken to signify a building whose forms are dictated solely by its practical functions and associated structural solutions. ln contrast it is a decoratively conceived composition of cubistic forms which constitutes a manyfaceted whole. None of these elements are, however, purely decorative; Aalto remained faithful to functionalism to the extent that he always sought a practical reason for his forms.

  3. The building has a monumental look with its inclined roof of the auditorium. The reason behind this inclination is actually functional since Alvar Aalto tried to get a better acoustic space inside his auditorium.

  4. Finlandia Hall is located near the Töölönlahti bay.We can also see the nearby railtracks to its location. This means as we approach to the city with a train we see this monumental building right next to the lake.It acts as a first focal point of the city.

  5. We can see the Architectural order of Finlandia Hall as the building’s strong linear form lets us observe the building itself always in a movement. The movement of the windows however has a peak point near the Auditorium but the Groundfloor’s upper extention part has an ongoing form.

  6. Interior qualities of the auditorium is somehow has a resemblance to the Elevations of the building.
