  4. What is the mission of APEL? • Evaluate innovative and/or proprietary materials, products and devices of common interest for use in highway and bridge construction. • Develop and carry out new test evaluations • Post state certifications and evaluations

  5. What is not Applicable for APEL • Materials and products currently under research • Materials and products not ready for implementation • Materials with existing specifications • AASHTO • Other

  6. Benefits to using APEL • AASHTO member organizations save time and money by using already established basic performance data from a credible source • Vendors save time and money by testing their product just once based on input from AASHTO members
