  3. The raccoon is a mammal. It is mostly gray and has a black mask and gray ringed tail. Raccoons can be two to three feet long with its tail being about 10 inches long. The raccoon weighs from 12 to 20 pounds.

  4. Raccoons live throughout most of the United States. Their natural environment is the woods in hollow trees.

  5. Raccoons are not afraid of people and they will live anywhere. Raccoons are omnivores, eating both plants and small animals. Humans are his main predator.

  6. It can live up to 15 years in captivity. The raccoon has sharp teeth and claws to protect itself.

  7. Raccoon babies are called kits they are born in the spring. The litter can have 4 or 5 kits.
