  1. Competition Cheerleading Tryouts Varsity & Junior Varsity 2014

  2. Tryout Dates • Clinic – Monday, March 17th – Thursday, March 20th; 4:45-6:30 • Tryout – Friday, March 21st ; 4:45-end • Clinic & Tryouts will be held in the Old Gym at NFHS • Program members will be posted by midnight on 3-22-14 on the NFHS Competition Cheer website.

  3. Tryout Eligibility • Must pass 5 out of 7 classes in the fall semester for GHSA eligibility! • Physical, Participation Waiver and Insurance Information must be completed before tryouts. • Current valid physicals are already on file at NFHS (must be valid through March 21st, 2014) • Newly completed physicals and incoming freshmen physicals must be turned into Mrs. Sandra Sutton in the main office and copied in the tryout packet by Friday, March 14th.

  4. Eligibility • JV Competition Cheerleading- 9th - 11th graders • Varsity Competition 9th- 12th graders according to skills

  5. Requirements for J.V. Competition • Cheer • Dance • Jumps: Three different consecutive jumps • Tumbling: Standing- back handspring; Running- round-off back handspring series • Stunting: single down from one leg, heel stretch, liberty and arabesque

  6. Requirements for Varsity Competition • Cheer • Dance • Jumps – Three different consecutive jumps • Stunting: Switch-Up, Full-Up, High-Low-High Tick Tock, advanced body positions & single down from one leg • Tumbling: standing- standing tuck, cartwheel tuck and two to tuck/layout/full; running- round-off tuck and layout or higher

  7. What to Wear • Must wear tennis shoes, or cheer shoes, and hair must be secured away from with face preferably with a bow! • Everyone must wear black shorts and a plain white shirt for the actual try-out on Friday! • ABSOLUTELY NO “CHEER Team Affiliated” attire at any time!

  8. Other Information • You should also wear your try-out # each day! You will pick them up as you enter the gym. • Absolutely NO jewelry, gum, or fake fingernails! Per GHSA. • Cell phones, video cameras, and spectators are NOT allowed! Tryouts are closed.

  9. Available Spots • 34-36 available spots • 16 for Varsity and 18-20 for JV. • Our goal is to give every girl who makes the program competition time. All decisions will be made with the best interests of the PROGRAM in mind.

  10. North Cheerleading Expectations • Follow all rules stated by the NFHS Cheerleading Constitution • Attend summer stunt camp • Attend summer choreography camp • Participate in all fundraisers • Maintain high academic standards • Attend all competitions and practices • Follow the NFHS Athletic Code of Conduct

Date Obligations • 1st Booster Meeting – April 15th @ 6 pm. $400.00 due. • Uniform Fitting – Tuesday, April 15th @ 4pm • Stunt Camp: May 29th and May 30th • Choreography: • JV - June 2nd – June 4th • V – June 9th – June 11th • Summer workouts are 3 days per week, 9-12 • Fall Practices 3-4 days a week

Approximate Cost Obligations • JV/Varsity: $750 - $800 • will include uniform rental, shoes (if needed), bloomers, bow, practice clothes, spirit wear, warm ups, competition entry fees, music, choreography, stunt camp, bus travel, end of year banquet, competition gift *additional, optional spirit wear is not included. • Final Payment is due: • May 30th@ Camp • Organized fundraisers are mandatory to contribute to booster funds for new mats, Sr. gifts, banquet costs, patches/awards, etc. Anything raised over the baseline amount will be credited to the athlete’s personal account.

  13. Please consider…. • Picking the team is like putting together pieces of a puzzle. We are looking for well-rounded athletes for the competitive teams. Tumbling is NOT everything, but is strongly considered! • Making a team last year does not guarantee making the same team this year. • All decisions made by the coaches are final although we are ONE fluid program.
