  8. Final Exams Monday, May 13 – Thursday, May 16 Exempt if *: • Overall 80 average • No unexcused absences * NO AP course or course with a state-mandated End-of-Course (EOC) Exam may be exempted. EOC Courses are English 1, Algebra 1, Biology, US History.

  9. Denial of Credit If you miss school, you miss out! • More than 5 absences in a semester class and/or more than 10 absences in a year-long class will be denied credit • Includes: UNEXCUSED EXCUSED PARENT NOTES Medical Notes do not count towards denial of credit

  10. Denial of Credit • Denial of Credit letters will be mailed home Friday, May 3rd • Letters of appeal are due to Mrs. Radcliffe by Friday, May 10th Late appeals cannot and will not be accepted!

  11. Extended School Year • For failed course(s) needed for graduation • Cost $100.00 Mon, May 13th - Tues, May 21st at 5:00 PM • Limited time to recover units • NOT a suggested method of earning credits

  12. Perfect Attendance If your son or daughter has had Perfect Attendance for 12 years, let Mrs. Radcliffe know ASAP so they can be recognized during the graduation ceremony

  13. College Decision Letters • Bring copies of admission decision letters from ALL colleges you applied • Accepted • Denied • Wait-listed • Offered Bridge Program

  16. Military Commitments • Let us know if you have decided to serve in the US Armed Forces so you can be recognized for this commitment

  17. Senior Signing Day We will recognize all seniors who have made a commitment: To Attend a 2 Year College To Attend a 4 Year College To Enter the Military To Enter the Work Force Friday, May 3rd at 10:30 AM in the big gym. Parents are invited to attend.

  18. Senior Awards Night Wednesday, May 1, 2019 6:30pm ARHS Auditorium Invitations will be given to seniors by Monday, April 29th Information must be received by: • April 26th to be announced at Senior Awards Night • May 10th to be included in the graduation program

  19. Senior Academic Letter Award Seniors will receive an academic letter for their senior year if they have an overall average of 88 or higher. They must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 class periods. Not eligible if they enrolled after the 10th day of their senior year. BOT Award is given to seniors who have earned a grade of 90 or higher in each class. In order to qualify for the award, students should not have a grade below an 80.

  20. Academic Letter Breakfast When: Thursday, May 23, 2019 Where: AR Cafeteria Time: 9:00 AM Seniors will receive a hand delivered invitation.

  21. Obligations • Balances can be seen on PowerSchool • May be paid to Mrs. Listak in the front office • Students need to keep their receipt! • Must be PAID IN FULL prior to graduation • Students will not participate in the graduation ceremony if they have outstanding debts

  22. Graduation Practice Wednesday, May 22, 2019 8:00 am ARHS Auditorium • Complete Post-Secondary Plans Form • Pick up report card • Final report card must be presented to receive cap and gown AFTER practice

  23. Graduation Practice Graduation Practice is in the Ashley Ridge High School Auditorium GRADUATION PRACTICE IS MANDATORY IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON PARTICIPATING IN THE CEREMONY NO PRACTICE = NO CEREMONY

  24. Graduation Practice • Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Distinguished Honor Graduates and Honor Graduates, recipients of the Diploma of Distinction will be announced • GPA and Rank cannot be given out until the week after graduation • Students will be assigned specific rows • We will walk through the entire procession

  25. Cap and Gown Pick-Up • Distributed at the end of practice in the mini-gym • Must show final report card to receive cap and gown • Obligations must be cleared before receiving final report card • Only students who meet graduation requirements will receive cap and gown • Jostens will be in the mini-gym for last minute issues

  26. Graduation Cords 3 Types of Cords Military Cord – Students who have signed a letter of commitment to join one of the armed forces. Workkeys Cords – Students who have earned a Workkeys certificate – Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze. Academic Schools of Study Cords - Students who have completed a career major in one of the 4 schools of study.

  27. Graduation Cords All graduation cords will be given out at graduation practice. Cords will be in the envelope with the final report card. Honor Society cords and stoles will be given out by the honor society advisor prior to graduation practice or at graduation practice.

  28. Cap & Gown Orders Students only need to order a cap and gown for graduation 843.884.4311 www.lowcountrygrad.com • Click on “Graduation Orders” • Type in Ashley Ridge High School • Cap and gown order is at very bottom • Cost is $82.00 right now but will increase

  29. Graduation Supply Orders • Jostens will distribute graduation supplies on Wed, April 10th • Supplies distributed will include: invitations, name cards, thank you note cards, etc. • Outstanding balances to Jostens must be cleared prior to delivery

  30. Not Participating If you are NOT going to participate in the graduation ceremony, let Mrs. Radcliffe know ASAP Students not eligible to graduate or participate may pick up their cap & gown Tuesday, May 28th in Mrs. Radcliffe’s office Students who do not wish to participate in graduation may pick up their diploma Tuesday, May 28th in Mrs. Radcliffe’s office

  31. Baccalaureate Service Blessing of the Graduates Sponsored by the Summerville Ministerial Association Thursday, May 23, 2019 7:00 pm New Ashley Baptist Church (This is a change)

  32. Baccalaureate Service No assigned seating so students may sit with their friends Should wear cap and gown

  33. Name Pronunciation If you have a difficult name, see Ms. Gammons to ensure she pronounces the name correctly. She will announce the entire name – First, Middle, last and generation

  34. Graduation Ceremony • Graduates should be robed and ready to line up in the tunnel of the coliseum no later than 1:00 PM(late arrivals will not be allowed to participate) • We will begin promptly at 2:00 PM. • Lasts approximately an hour and forty-five minutes • Limited handicap seating available

  35. Graduation Parking Each student will be able to sign for 2 parking passes this year. If a car does not have a parking pass, it will not be allowed to park There is no parking at Tanger this year. We will run shuttle buses from Fort Dorchester every 10 minutes throughout the graduation day. More details will be in the senior parent letter.

  36. Graduation Ceremony • Will receive an empty diploma cover as they cross the stage • Will receive diploma at the end of the ceremony during the recessional

  37. Graduation Pictures Lifetouch will be present during the entire graduation day. They will be located in the tunnel before graduation taking candid shots. They will take a picture of each student as they receive their diploma cover. Students will have access to the pictures on the Lifetouch website within two weeks of the ceremony.

  38. Behavior • The expectation is one of respect • This is a ceremony not a sporting event • Understand if you cause a disruption during the ceremony, a North Charleston Police Officer has the authority to arrest you for disorderly conduct

  39. Behavior • The same is true for graduates and members of the audience • Everyone has the right to hear their name and not loud boisterous cheering • No horns, shakers, bells, vuvuzelas, or noisemakers of any type will be allowed

  40. Graduation Dress Code • Males – Dress shirt, tie, dress slacks, dress shoes and socks • Females – A dress, skirt, or dress slacks and blouse and dress shoes are appropriate

  41. Graduation Dress Code • Jeans, head-gear, flip-flops, tennis shoes, exposed midriffs, halter tops, and t-shirts are not acceptable • Be sensible!

  42. After Graduation – Don’t Forget • Request delivery of your FINAL TRANSCRIPT to your college on Parchment.com • Will be sent mid-June • Let your counselor know of any new scholarships you receive • If you are not attending college or enlisting in the military, let us know where you are working and if this is your chosen career field

  43. Additional Reminders • Submit all official test scores to your college via College Board (AP and SAT) and ACT • Test scores that come from AR are not official • Colleges will need a copy of your immunization records • Copies can be made from your file in Guidance
