  1. Ashley Sturm Photography By: Kyle Atkinson P.6 11-08-10

  2. Ashley Sturm • Ashley was born on August 12th, 1985 in Salem Oregon. • She graduated from the Institute of Photography in Western Massachusetts. She also attended Chemeketa Community College. She took classic B&W film photography in high school. She currently lives in Salem Oregon where she runs her business out of.

  3. Appearing Work? • Her work appears in the newspaper for her adds, in the magazines at her store and in peoples homes.

  4. Style of Work? • Her style of work is a hard focus on family importance. • She focuses on family portraits, senior pictures, newborns and weddings. She wants to include family values that last a lifetime.

  5. Inspiration • She got her inspiration from her family. She said that she has “grown up in a family that fosters art expression and the power it holds in our world, and this desire to express myself has found it’s home in photography. I see it as a means to tell a story, share an emotion, and bring substance to feelings and ideas that are waiting to be born.” Her mom also got her into a lot of art classes while she was younger to inspire her to become a great photographer.

  6. Interesting Facts? • She said that she never really liked photography or even thought about it until her mom got her taking the classes. She was hesitant to go to them because she wasn’t really sure what to think of it. Once she got going in the classes she began to love taking pictures.

  7. The lighting in this picture is very natural. The photo was taken outside. The main subject in this photograph is the couple laying down in the leaves. I can tell that this is the main subject because it is in the middle of the photograph. The composition in this photo is Rule of thirds. I don’t think that there is a story in this photograph. I selected this photo because I like the background

  8. The lighting in this photo is very natural. The picture was taken outside in a sunny environment. The main subject in this photo is the little kids sitting on the bench in a park. All the leaves in this photo make it a fall photo and it is in clear focus. I selected this photo because it is a nice, cool photo with a good background.

  9. This is a very natural picture once again. This picture looks like it was taken outside and the main subject in it is the lady getting her senior pictures taken. This picture is in the rule of thirds because of where the lady is placed. There is no real story in this photograph, just a girl getting her senior pictures taken. I chose this photograph because this is basically what Ashley does in her photographs. She specializes in senior photographs.

  10. This is a kind of natural and kind of rough photo. The reason it seems kind of rough is that it is on grayscale. The main subject in this image is the girl getting her senior photos taken. This photo would definitely be in rule of thirds. I chose this photo because it looks cool in grayscale and it is again one of her best work, senior photos.

  11. This photo comes off as a natural and artificial. It looks like they are in a tent with their backs to the outside. They are under the tent and in front of a door that leads to the outside. The picture tells no story and fits under rule of thirds. I chose this picture because the two people look very happy and look like they are having a good time.
