  1. CAREERS SERVICES FOR ALUMNIAn update for the Professional Networks Group13 May 2004

  2. Current status • Careers resource on Portal launched • Includes sections on • Career strategy • Researching opportunities • Networking and applying • Interview preparation • Handling offers • Multiplicity of web-site addresses and tools

  3. Alumni Careers Services project • Graham Hastie proposal

  4. Interim steps for consideration • Addition of recommended service providers • School ‘endorsement’ • Primarily coaching, with some specific areas of expertise to meet the needs of alumni • Available to alumni on a ‘paid for’ basis • Fee levels would be agreed and publicised (Careers Services recommends £75-£100 p.h.) • Alumni enter into individual contracts with service providers

  5. School ‘endorsed’ service providers • Some School recommendations • Laura Renoldi, contracter/formerly employed by School; also has Headhunting experience • Nancy Garrison-Jenn – particular strength advising on how to approach specific markets and headhunters • An individual who works with MiFs and has particular expertise in the finance sector; can help with CVs

  6. School ‘endorsed’ service providers Complementary service for consideration • Proposal from Philippa Morrison (Coach to Faculty and Snr. Mgt.) • Executive Coaching which she and a colleague would deliver • Potential to bring in and quality control other coaches • Initial proposal involves School billing arrangements

  7. A more comprehensive ‘directory’ of service providers • Benefits • much wider range of service providers • opportunity for alumni to promote their services • ex-UK potential But the challenge is maintaining quality/consistency • Potential for service differentiation • ‘School endorsed’ • ‘paid for’ listing • Free (or discounted) for alumni??

  8. Next steps for consideration • Further development of Careers Resource on Portal? • Further ‘networking’ information • additional regional headhunter information • Addition of ‘paid for’ services, e.g. ‘Career Leader’ • Put in place ‘Service Providers Directory’ • School endorsed only • Or School endorsed and others • Links from Careers Pages to Exec Ed • A unique London Business School jobs board?
