1. Procedures at Columbia Elementary

2. Morning Drop-off Procedures Drop students off no earlier than 8:20 if the students are eating breakfast at school. Drop students off no earlier than 8:40 if students are not eating breakfast at school. Please do NOT drop off students in north parking lot. If students are dropped off on the street, they must walk on the sidewalk and cross at the crosswalk with the crossing guard. When dropping students off on the street, do not stop between the our drive way and the neighbor�s drive. It creates huge traffic jams.

3. For safety reasons, parents will: Obey traffic signs. Pull into the drive-through next to the right side curb. Pull all the way forward to the doors. NOT park or stop in the (drive-through) center lane. NOT drop off students in the center lane. Take care of business (long goodbyes, paperwork) before driving to school. Do not pass the school bus if the red lights are flashing. Leave promptly when student is on the sidewalk. Pull into a stall when leaving the car. BUSES HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY!

4. For safety reasons, students will: Be on time for school. Line up at the assigned Columbia Shuttle area. Keep hands to self. Be kind to all other students. Wait for teachers to greet and lead students to class on time.

5. For safety reasons: No scooters. No rollerblades. No skateboards. No roller shoes.

6. Before School Procedures Before School Students are outside until the bell rings; then line up with their class. Breakfast eaters will walk outside and line up with their class. During inclement weather, students may sit quietly on the lunchroom steps.

7. Hall Behavior Procedures By The Third Grade Walk in a single file Walk on the right side of the hall Walk quietly and Keep hands to yourself

8. By Fifth Grade Use equipment correctly (no climbing up slides and walls, no jumping from bridge to bridge) Play running games on grass away from equipment Stay on the playground side of the bike racks Put away all equipment Playground Procedures

9. Lunchroom Procedures By Sixth Grade Come in quietly, get your tray and take your seat Show respect to the lunchroom people Take turns emptying lunch trays (one at a time and carefully) Wait quietly for teachers to come

10. Rainy Day Procedures Teachers remain with students in the classroom until transition time. Teacher leads students to the EAST lunchroom doors. Teacher has lunch until time to pick up students in the lunchroom.

11. After School Procedures After School Students may not come to the office to call home to play at a friend�s house. Students must leave when school is out. Students may not play in the halls after school. Students may meet friends and family at the flagpole.

12. Parents picking up students after school: Follow the same morning procedures. Please be courteous to others. Do not pass the bus when the red lights are flashing. Remember busses have the right of way.

13. School Wide Discipline Research supports a child�s need for at least 7 positive recognitions for every negative interaction. Positive recognitions will take place school wide as well as in the classroom.

15. Columbia Challengers 100 Club 1st recess call for blue slips to office Sign in book and pull a number 1-100 to write name on 100 Club board When a row is completed with names, those students will be invited to each lunch with Mrs. Sumner and play �Uno-Attack!� ?

16. �White Slip� for Problem Behaviors The �White Slip� is a triplicate form that outlines: What rule was broken Location of problem Details of difficulty Copy to parent, teacher and office

17. *Problem BehaviorHierarchy 1st White Slip � Warning only 2nd White Slip � Teacher counsels with student. Teacher contacts parent. Student misses one recess or has structured recess. 3rd White Slip � Teacher counsels with student. Teacher contacts parents. Student misses two recesses or has structured recess.

18. Hierarchy-Continued 4th White Slip � Teacher counsels with student. Student is referred to office. Administration contacts parents. Student is put on structured recess and is given one hour of think time in another setting or space.

19. Hierarchy-Continued 5th White Slip � Student is suspended until parent, teacher and administrator can meet and develop a behavior plan. For severe violations, referral to district Case Management will be made. **At the end of each term, all students not on a behavior contract are returned to step one.**

21.
