Book to Film • You are the author of your book. • Write a letter to a movie producer that provokes interest in turning the book into a film. • Explain… • The Story • Characters • Conflicts • Suggest a Location and Appropriate Actors YOU MAY ONLY USE BOOKS WHICH HAVE NOT ALREADY BEEN MADE INTO MOVIES.

  3. Diorama • This is a 3-D scene which includes models of people, buildings, plants, and animals. • It should be one of the main events of the book. • Include a written description of the scene.

  4. Book Talk • See me about this option.

  5. Comparison essay • Read a book that has been made into a movie. • It must have been a book FIRST. • Write an essay comparing the movie version with the book.

  6. Memory bag • Find 15 items that have significance to your book. • Explain the significance of each item on a separate index card or paper. • Put all of the items and their cards into a bag.

  7. Diary • Pretend you are one of the characters from the book. • Write a diary from that character’s point of view. • Include details from the book. • There should be a minimum of 10 entries. • You can design your own journal…Get Funky!

  8. Book Cover • Create a book cover for your book. • Get creative! Do not copy the original cover. • Write a summary IN YOUR OWN WORDS for your book on the back. (Don’t give away the ending.) • Include criticism for the book on the inside front flap. (You can be one of the critics.) • Write the author’s biography on the inside back flap.

  9. Book Poster • Create a poster that includes a scene relevant to the story of the book. • The images should be drawn by hand. Computer images or photocopies are not acceptable. • There should be a summary of the scene. • Someone or something important to the story should be pictured.

  10. Book Play • If you are reading the same book as one or more others are reading, dramatize a scene from the book. • Write a script and have several rehearsals before presenting it to the class. • Write the lines and give set directions for your actors. • Be able to explain to the class why you chose the scene from the book.

  11. Classified Ads • Create a page of ads that a character in your story might have placed. • The writing should be clever and the pictures should be high quality. • There should be a minimum of 15 ads.

  12. Social worker • You are the social worker for your characters. • Write a report-descriptions of each of them and make recommendations for their futures. • The recommendations should be detailed and show that you put a lot of thought into them.

  13. Power point • A minimum of 4 slides • Should include a summary of your book…IN YOUR OWN WORDS! • What have critics said about the book? (What do you think about the book? Your friend? • Includes graphics/photographs • Includes at least one hyperlink (Great idea to link to the author’s website.) • Includes animation (transition or custom) • Includes a background/template • Includes WordArt • No spelling errors or grammar problems

  14. Web page • Should include a summary of your book…IN YOUR OWN WORDS! • What have critics said about the book? (What do you think about the book? Your friend?) • Includes images • Includes at least one hyperlink (Great idea to link to the author’s website.) • No spelling errors or grammar problems

  15. Movie (imovie, moviemaker, photostory) • Should represent some aspect of the book. Should include a summary of your book…IN YOUR OWN WORDS! • Includes images • Movie is a maximum of 2 – 3 minutes • Contains music, sound or narration • Includes titles and credits • Includes text overlay • No spelling errors or grammar problems • LET YOUR CREATIVITY FLOW!!!
