  1. POWER POINT PRESENTATION ABOUT ENGERGY AND IT'S SOURCES.

  2. WHAT IS ENERGY? Energy is the ability or the capacity to do work. Energy can be changed from one form to another but it can’t be created or destroyed.

  3. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ENERGY TYPES AND ENERGY SOURCES. • Energy is inside things .For example in the food we can find chemical energy that our body transforms in kinetical energy thant let us move ,run, etc;in the sun we can find thermal energy. All these forms are forms of energy. There are to be groups of form of energy potential energy and kinetical energy. • Energy sources are the natural resources we can use to get energy and then we can change it into different forms. We use solar panels to get energy from the sun etc….

  4. KIND OF ENERGY SOURCES • Non-renewable energy refers to those sources of energy found in nature in a limited amount and once consumed in its entirety can not be replaced, since there is no production or extraction system viable. Among the renewable energies there are two types of fuel: • It is called renewable energy to the energy obtained virtually inexhaustible natural sources, either by the vast amount of energy they contain, or because they are able to regenerate by natural means.Among the renewable energy include hydro, wind , solar, geothermal, tidal, biomass and biofuels.

  5. ELECTRICITY Electricity is the flow of electrical power or charge. It is a secondary energy source wich means that we get it from the conversion of other natural sources, wich are called primary sources. The energy sources we use to make electricity can be renewable or non-renewable,but electricity itself is neither renewable or non-renewable.

  6. NON-RENEWABLE ENERGY

  7. OIL (PETROLEUM) • Crude oil is a smelly, yellow-to-black liquid and is usually found in underground areas called reservoirs.  Scientists and engineers explore a chosen area by studying rock samples from the earth.  Measurements are taken, and, if the site seems promising, drilling begins.  Above the hole, a structure called a 'derrick' is built to house the tools and pipes going into the well.  When finished, the drilled well will bring a steady flow of oil to the surface.

  8. NATURAL GAS • Millions of years ago, the remains of plants and animals decayed and built up in thick layers.  This decayed matter from plants and animals is called organic material -- it was once alive.  Over time, the mud and soil changed to rock, covered the organic material and trapped it beneath the rock.  Pressure and heat changed some of this organic material into coal, some into oil (petroleum), and some into natural gas -- tiny bubbles of odorless gas.  The main ingredient in natural gas is methane, a gas (or compound) composed of one carbon atom and four hydrogen atoms.

  9. COAL • Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock composed mostly of carbon and hydrocarbons. It is the most abundant fossil fuel produced in the United States. Coal is a nonrenewable energy source because it takes millions of years to create. The energy in coal comes from the energy stored by plants that lived hundreds of millions of years ago, when the earth was partly covered with swampy forests. For millions of years, a layer of dead plants at the bottom of the swamps was covered by layers of water and dirt, trapping the energy of the dead plants. The heat and pressure from the top layers helped the plant remains turn into what we today call coal.

  10. UNARIUM (NUCLEAR) • Nuclear energy is energy in the nucleus (core) of an atom. Atoms are tiny particles that make up every object in the universe. There is enormous energy in the bonds that hold atoms together. Nuclear energy can be used to make electricity. But first the energy must be released. It can be released from atoms in two ways: nuclear fusion and nuclear fission.

  11. SAVE ENERGY • Turn off the lights whent not in use. • Off the tap when not in use. • Don´t use the car for small things. • Don’t use sprays. • Don’t use as much hot water. • Take a shower instead of a bath. • Use efficient-energy bulbs. • Walk to the shops. If you need to travel further than you can walk,Use a bus, metro or train if you can.

  12. Biomass Basics • Biomass is organic material made from plants and animals (microorganisms). Biomass contains stored energy from the sun. Plants absorb the sun's energy in a process called photosynthesis. The chemical energy in plants gets passed on to animals and people that eat them.

  13. Geothermal Energy Is Generated Deep Inside the Earth • Geothermal energy is generated in the Earth's core. Temperatures hotter than the sun's surface are continuously produced inside the Earth by the slow decay of radioactive particles, a process that happens in all rocks

  14. Hydropower Basics • Hydropower is the renewable energy source that produces the most electricity in the United States. It accounted for 6% of total U.S. electricity generation and 60% of generation from renewables in 2010.

  15. Solar energy • The sun has produced energy for billions of years.  Solar energy is the sun’s rays (solar radiation) that reach the Earth. This energy can be converted into other forms of energy, such as heat and electricity

  16. Wind • Wind is simply air in motion. It is caused by the uneven heating of the Earth's surface by the sun. Because the Earth's surface is made of very different types of land and water, it absorbs the sun's heat at different rates. One example of this uneven heating can be found in the daily wind cycle.

  17. Wave • Waves are created by the wind blowing across the sea and by the gravitational force of the moon.Wave power uses the energy of the waves to turn turbines that make electricity.

  18. Tidal • Tidal energy comes from the movement of water in the sea by the tides. These tides happen twice a day.The flow water is creater by the tides is used to turn generators that make electricity.
